2016: The Good Stuff!

Whenever someone asks me “Do you want the good news or the bad news first?”, my answer is always THE GOOD!

Hair to There’s  2016 HIGHLIGHTS!

Old Market, Siem Reap, Cambodia

This knick knack haven is often classified as “touristy”, but we loved our visits! Highlights included dining al fresco, meeting new friends & acquiring new souvenir swag!

Pangkor Laut Resort, Malaysia

This glorious resort awarded us the perfect respite from a tumultuous week!  We lazed on the private beach & splashed in the most perfect infinity edge pool overlooking the Straits of Mallaca.  Did I mention we stayed in an over-water bungalow? Well, we did, and it was everything we hoped for!  They were also kind enough to let us know that I’d forgot my passport on island.

Our AirBnB in Martinique

It’s not often that AirBnB’s look better in person, but this villa was AH-MAZE-ING.  The owners were lovely, the house was immaculate, and the view was first class.

The food at Kumbuck River Tree House, Sri Lanka

Seriously, the food here was that of a 5 star restaurant, but hidden in the depths of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.  If you can find this gem, you won’t be disappointed!

It wasn’t humid at all this day…

Yala National Park, Sri Lanka

Yala National Park afforded us the opportunity to finally see elephants in their natural habitat.  Seeing these majestic beasts graze & live in peace was more rewarding than we can properly articulate.

 Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Expensive AF, but totally worth splurging on a beautiful hotel room that gains you access to the infamous rooftop infinity pool.  Call it touristy, but we enjoyed having a cocktail in a pool perched 57 floors above Singapore.

We were lucky enough to witness some of the most beautiful sunsets through out the year.  The pictures will speak for themselves!

What a terrific year in review! I love how you chose specific moments instead of overall destinations! I’m a sucker for a fantastic sunset and it looks like you saw some really terrific ones! Hope 2017 is just as great for you!

You have had a lot of fun this year and some great travels. I would love to see the elephants in their natural habitat and not being ridden. Markets are always interesting although I don’t tend buy a lot. I do agree with you that sometimes you have to splurge a little to see some cool stuff.

I love your pictures! Pangkor Laut Resort looks beautiful. And your Sri Lanka pictures brought back nice memories: such a great country to visit.

It looks like both of you had an amazing year travel wise. I am a sucker for sunsets too and I loved your pictures. I would have splurged too to get access to the infinity pool. 🙂

Wow! Fabulous! This is the travel lifestyle I aspire to. A glass of something cold, a great view, a comfy room.

Just one small point. I was getting a little seasick – the photographs all seemed to have a slight tilt to them, a bit to the left, a bit to the right…

Most image-editing apps will fix this. Some do it automatically, but most need you to tilt the image so the horizon is level.

Most of my shots are like this straight out of the camera, despite the Canon M3 having a fancy-dancy level indicator, so I fix them when I crop the shots in post.

Great article. Looks like you had a really wodnerful year. I have recently started using AirBnB and I must say that your place in Martinique looks great! So modern and minimalistic – I would spend there a month or so if only I could afford it 🙂
And so good they told you that you lost your passport in Malysia!

Looks like you had a fab year! Marina Bay – that pool – makes me so happy! We stayed here purely to get that golden photo 🙂

You had a kick ass year, girl! I’m drooling over that tree house in Sri Lanka. I also got to see elephants in their natural habitat this year while in South Africa and fell in love. They’re now officially my favorite animal. I hope 2017 is just as good for you as 2016!
